Paint - Tips on selecting the perfect color

Picking the right paint color for a wall is sometimes as painful as watching it dry. We know from experience that finding a color from small swatches can be extremely difficult. Many years ago, we made that exact dreadful decision. The Pepto-Bismol Pink was a sore to our eyes and quite frankly made our stomachs cringe. So much time and effort wasted. The good news for you is that you don't have to suffer like us. Here are a few tips to follow in order to ensure that you will have the perfect paint color each and every time. 1. Buy sample paint for all selected colors. We recommend at least 4 or 5 because your first choice may not end up being your final decision. Companies like Sherwin Williams, Behr, etc. will have sample paint for purchase between $4 and $8. Trust us, it’s better off to just buy a small amount of samples.

2. Always use a roller to paint the color on the wall with proper equipment & supplies. Test paint the actual wall, not on a piece of wood or board. A lot of times, if you’re not a professional painter, a brush can be tricky to use because it leaves stroke marks & inconsistencies.

3. Paint two different walls: one in direct sunlight & the other in the shadow of the sunlight. This way you are able to see the different changes in hues at different times of the day. Okay, not so bad right? Remember these tips and you will be a paint color expert in no time. We love using Sherwin Williams’ website or app because you can order your paint online so there are no lines or wait. Nowadays, who has time to wait for paint to mix or paint to dry? Happy painting!
